🐜 The Ants and the Grasshopper 🦗
On a warm summer day, a grasshopper was hopping happily in a field. The sun was shining, and the flowers were blooming. The grasshopper felt very happy.
He saw a group of ants working hard. The ants were carrying heavy grains of wheat to their home. They were very busy.
"Hello, Mr. Ant!" said the grasshopper. "Why are you working so hard on such a beautiful day? Come and sing with me! Let's enjoy the sunshine!"
One ant stopped and looked at the grasshopper. "I cannot play today," said the ant. "We are storing food for the winter. Winter will come soon, and we need to be ready."
The grasshopper laughed. "Winter is far away! There is plenty of time. Look at the beautiful flowers! Listen to the birds singing! Come and play with me!"
The ant shook his head. "No, thank you. I must work. Winter will come sooner than you think."
The grasshopper did not listen. He continued to play all day. He sang and danced in the warm sunshine. The ants continued to work, carrying grain after grain to their home.
Day after day, the grasshopper played while the ants worked. Summer passed, and autumn came. The leaves on the trees turned red and gold. The grasshopper still played, but the weather was getting cooler.
Soon, winter arrived. The cold wind blew, and snow covered the ground. There was no food to be found anywhere. The grasshopper was very hungry and cold.
He went to the ants' home. He knocked on the door.
"Please, Mr. Ant," said the grasshopper. "I am so hungry. I have no food. Can you give me something to eat?"
The ant opened the door. "What did you do all summer while we were working?" asked the ant.
"I sang and played," said the grasshopper quietly. "I did not think about winter."
The ant nodded. "We worked hard all summer to prepare for winter. Now we have enough food to survive. But you played while we worked. I am sorry, but we cannot give you our food."
The grasshopper was sad. He had learned a valuable lesson. "Next year," he said, "I will work hard like you. I will prepare for the winter."
But the ant felt sorry for the grasshopper. "You can stay with us tonight," said the ant. "But remember, it is better to work today so you can play tomorrow."
Moral of the story: Work today to play tomorrow. It is important to prepare for the future and not waste time when you should be working.
